Lonely Planet: Over 50s Taking More Linear Journeys
Lonely Planet: Over-50s taking more "linear journeys" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Older travellers are becoming increasingly adventurous and embarking on more "linear journeys" that take them from one place to another, rather than simply spending their holiday time in a single place, according to Lonely Planet.
Tom Hall, the publisher"s UK travel editor, said central Asia is one region that has become popular for trips of this kind, with many people exploring the Silk Road through countries such as India, China and Indonesia.
The Trans-Siberian Railway, which connects Moscow to eastern Russia and the Sea of Japan, also offers plenty of opportunities for linear journeys.
"I also think destinations like Burma and Vietnam are among the growing and more adventurous destinations over the past few years," added Mr Hall.
Another trend that is proving increasingly popular among over-50s, according to the Lonely Planet spokesman, is seeking out experiences that reflect niche interests, which can range from particular genres of music to sport and art.
