Palm Springs Celebrates Marilyn Monroe
Palm Springs celebrates Marilyn Monroe by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Marilyn Monroe fans planning a trip to the west coast of the United States in the near future might be interested in visiting the desert city of Palm Springs, where the actress was discovered.
Last month, a 26-foot-tall sculpture entitled Forever Marilyn was unveiled on the corner of Palm Canyon Drive and Tahquitz Canyon Way to celebrate the destination"s association with the cultural icon.
The statue by American artist Seward Johnson recalls one of the most famous images from the star"s career - the moment in the film The Seven Year Itch when Monroe"s dress is blown up by a passing train as she stands on a subway grate.
To celebrate the new attraction, the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism highlighted a number of related activities on offer in the city, including a celebrity tour visiting the house where Monroe once lived and the former homes of people like Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor.
Visitors can also walk through downtown Palm Springs to see nearly 350 golden stars embedded in the pavement paying tribute to a host of famous figures.
