Tourism Ireland Targets Hassled Londoners

Tourism Ireland targets "hassled Londoners" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

A new tourism campaign has been launched with the aim of encouraging Londoners to escape the Olympic Games this summer by paying a visit to Ireland.

Tourism Ireland noted that, while the event will be a source of great excitement for England"s capital city, it will also create congestion, hassle and stress for local residents.

More than 8m people living in London are expected to see the agency"s "escape the madness" campaign this month, which will include images of peaceful locations such as the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge in County Antrim.

Hundreds of adverts will appear at different Tube stations throughout the capital and in the Evening Standard newspaper, targeting commuters during morning and evening rush hours.

Tourism Ireland chief executive Niall Gibbons said: "With a global audience of about 4bn, [the Olympics] is the largest sporting event in the world and Tourism Ireland intends to maximise the tourism potential of the Games."

He went on to say that the proximity of the event in London provides a "wonderful opportunity" to encourage travellers to head to locations such as Dublin and Belfast to discover what the island has to offer.
