The airline"s promotional drive will cost some £6m and will have at its centre a television advert set in 1984 recreating the carrier"s first ever flight.
Iconic images of the 1980s, such as the Rubik"s Cube and the Asteroids video game, will feature in the advert, along with Virgin Atlantic flight attendants and pilots boarding the inaugural service to New York.
The airline claims that its promotional campaign is part of its plan to "beat off the credit crunch blues" and fight back against the "doom and gloom" in the aviation industry.
Steve Ridgway, Virgin Atlantic chief executive, said that the carrier is currently offering some of its lowest ever fares and is looking to the future with optimism.
During its 25 years in business, Virgin Atlantic has served more than 65m passengers and now flies to 30 destinations around the world from its main bases at London Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
