Qantas Passengers To Benefit From Canberra Development
Qantas passengers "to benefit" from Canberra development by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Travellers flying with Qantas in Australia are expected to benefit from a new multi-user terminal development at Canberra airport.
Work on the $350m (£169m) project began at the international airport in south-east Australia this week.
Qantas will be the biggest user of the new terminal with 546 flights operating each week, including services to Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth that could prove popular with people looking for travel connections in the country.
Airline spokesman Allan Williams said: "The new multi-user terminal will give Qantas access to state-of-the-art facilities including additional check-in counters, aerobridges and gate lounges, improved baggage facilities and new and larger lounges.
"Canberra has experienced strong domestic passenger growth for a number of years, which has necessitated these improvements to the airport"s infrastructure."
Qantas recently completed a $10m upgrade of its existing domestic terminal at Canberra airport to improve lounge facilities, baggage services and security procedures.
The airline recently announced its support for a tourism industry support package being launched in Victoria following the bushfires that occurred in the state in February.
