Vampire fans urged to visit Bucharest
People with an interest in the mythical figure of the vampire have been encouraged to catch flights to Bucharest to learn more about the man behind the legend.
Vlad Tepes, more commonly known as Vlad the Impaler, ruled a region that is now part of Romania in the 15th century and reportedly provided the inspiration for Bram Stoker"s Dracula.
Aer Lingus, which will launch flights to Bucharest from London Gatwick on 25 October, said that vampires are now "sexier than ever" as a result of the new television show True Blood and the Twilight series of books and movies.
Travellers can head to the Count Dracula Club in the Romanian capital to be transported back to the 1400s or pay a visit to Counts Challenge, the country"s only medieval theme park.
Enda Corneille, corporate affairs director for Aer Lingus, said: "As one of the largest cities in eastern Europe, Bucharest is rich in culture, buzzing with trendy nightclubs and bars and a history that has inspired one of the best horror stories."
The city is one of several destinations Aer Lingus will serve from London Gatwick over the winter, with flights to Faro, Malaga, Dublin, Vienna and other locations also available.
