New Hilton hotel opened in New Zealand by Cheap Flights Booker UK

The new Hilton Lake Taupo hotel in New Zealand officially opened its doors yesterday (18 November).

Hilton is one of the first upscale, full-service hotel brands to open a property in Taupo, an area in the heart of the country"s North Island.

The new hotel, which is the company"s second in New Zealand, features 113 deluxe guest rooms, suites and apartments.

Most of the rooms are located in the Mountain Wing, a section of the building that offers panoramic views of Lake Taupo and Mount Ruapehu, the country"s largest ski field.

Martin Rinck, president of Hilton Worldwide Asia Pacific, said: "Hilton Lake Taupo is truly spectacular and I am pleased we will be managing a hotel in one of New Zealand"s most significant leisure and meetings destinations.

"We are delighted that we have been able to retain the character of the original Victorian building and incorporate some of the same charm into the new Mountain Wing."

Lake Taupo is located about three hours from Auckland by car and four-and-a-half hours from Wellington.

Leisure activities on offer in the area include fishing, golf, horse riding and skiing.
