Wildlife tourism "booming" in Scotland by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Wildlife tourism has proved popular in Scotland this year, it has been revealed.
The first ten months of 2009 proved a fruitful period for the wildlife tourism sector in Scotland, it has been revealed.
Industry association Wild Scotland surveyed its members and found that nearly two out of three (61%) have enjoyed a better year than in 2008.
The trend of the "staycation" - which saw an increasing number of British people taking holidays at home - proved beneficial for 59% of respondents.
Wild Scotland carried out the research ahead of its annual conference near Perth, which will address the various issues and challenges facing the wildlife tourism sector.
Caroline Warburton, a spokeswoman for the association, said: "Wildlife tourism in Scotland has had another great season which is excellent news for everyone.
"Businesses have worked hard this year but their work has paid off and the results of the survey hopefully show that wildlife tourism in Scotland is here to stay."
Several airlines operate flights to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen and other cities in Scotland, including easyJet, Flybe, Eastern Airways and bmi.
