Hawaii holidays "not expensive" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

It is a misconception that a holiday in Hawaii costs a lot, the island"s tourist board has claimed.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority said that the Pacific state is still perceived as a "dream destination" by many Britons.

Honeymooners from the UK in particular are lured to Hawaii"s beaches, making up a quarter of total British tourists to the island.

A spokeswoman for the travel board said that favourable exchange rates have been good for tourism in Hawaii.

"The low US dollar has provided excellent value for money. Although Brits see Hawaii as a dream destination, they sometimes perceive it as being expensive, this is a misconception," she explained.

"A holiday to Hawaii is considerably cheaper than visiting Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific for the same length of time."

Earlier this month, a report from Wanderlust and AITO found that Britons are very positive about their holiday plans for the year, with more than eight in ten intending to take the same number of trips in 2010 as they have done in the past.
