Peru "about more than Machu Picchu" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

There is more for travellers to do in Peru than see the ancient Inca site of Machu Picchu, according to a tourism spokesperson.

Daniela Resenterra of PromPeru, the association that promotes the South American country to tourists, highlighted a number of attractions that are worth visiting, such as Colca Canyons.

Located in the south, not far from Machu Picchu, the site is double the depth of the Grand Canyon and is still "relatively unknown", according to Ms Resenterra.

She added: "The northern coastal area of Peru has got the best weather in the country - it"s sunshine … all year round.

"It"s really good for surfing and watersports. There"s a surfing festival in March that takes place there."

Those looking for an adventure can take a trip along the Amazon to visit Iquitos, where visitors can stay in canopy suites in the middle of the jungle.
