Gap Years In Australia Recommended For School Leavers
Gap years in Australia recommended for school leavers by Cheap Flights Booker UK
British school leavers who miss out on a place at university this year have been encouraged to consider a working holiday or gap year getaway in Australia.
With demand for higher-education places higher than ever, thousands of young Britons are expected to miss out this autumn.
To highlight one of the alternatives on offer to those not attending university, Tourism Australia has launched an online series on Facebook called 30 Days in Oz.
The range of 30, one-minute videos shows a day in the life of various Aussies and backpackers, including crocodile handlers, surf photographers, bungee jumpers, street artists and musicians.
On 18 August - the day A-level results are released - Tourism Australia will also launch a competition on its Facebook page giving young travellers the chance to win a gap adventure.
Rodney Harrex, the tourism agency"s general manager in the UK, said: "We"re encouraging school leavers that missed out on a university place to catch up with other backpackers as they share their stories and then to use the information on our Facebook page to start planning their own gap year adventure.
"The working holiday visa provides young people with the opportunity to supplement their travels with incidental work, meaning they gain life experiences and earn some cash while having an amazing extended holiday."
People planning a trip to Australia can begin their adventure by catching a flight to a city such as Sydney, Perth or Melbourne.
