South Africa celebrating tourism industry by Cheap Flights Booker UK
South Africa will celebrate its tourism industry and highlight the contribution it makes to the national economy with a series of events over the coming weeks.
Tourism Month, which falls annually in September, will have the theme of "linking cultures" in 2011.
Alan Winde, tourism minister for the Western Cape province, noted that the region"s culture and history are important aspects of its appeal for visitors.
"South Africa"s people are its biggest asset and visitors are attracted to Cape Town and the Western Cape because of the deep sense of culture and heritage that we exhibit," he commented.
"The theme for Tourism Month 2011 … gives us the opportunity to showcase just how unique our people and culture makes us as a travel destination."
Calvyn Gilfellan, chief executive of local tourism agency Cape Town Routes Unlimited, said tourism holds "immense value" for the province and the country as a whole.
Travellers visiting Cape Town during trips to South Africa can take in famous sights such as Table Mountain or see the prison on Robben Island that once held Nelson Mandela.
