British Airways (BA) has marked the first anniversary of its joint business agreement with American Airlines and Iberia by highlighting the "real customer benefits" that have resulted from the partnership.
Over the past 12 months, more than 12m people have travelled on joint business flights to 40 destinations in North America and Europe.
Customers have had access to "shuttle services" on popular routes between the UK and US following the alignment of the carrier"s schedules, including hourly journeys from London Heathrow to New York between 13:00 and 20:00.
BA, American Airlines and Iberia have also consolidated about 60 policies to provide more consistency for passengers, such as the option for first or business class customers to check in three bags.
Three lounges have opened in Miami, Denver and Philadelphia as part of the joint business agreement between the operators.
Future developments include American Airlines" receipt of the biggest aircraft order in aviation history from 2013 and the integration of Airbus A380s and Boeing 787 Dreamliners into the BA fleet.
