Travellers invited to Kauai"s free attractions by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Travellers visiting the island of Kauai in the US state of Hawaii have been encouraged to check out some of the destination"s free, or very cheap, attractions.
The local tourist board recommended sites such as Waimea Canyon, which is a mile wide, ten miles long and more than 3,500 feet deep.
Visitors can embark on a hike into the crater or head to vantage points such as the Kalalau lookout, which offers views of a verdant valley descending thousands of feet to the Pacific Ocean.
People with a passion for outdoor pursuits can also set off on a trek in some of Kauai"s rainforests and lush wilderness areas, with trails available to suit all ability levels.
Other popular activities include spotting rare birds in the Kilauea National Wildlife Refuge, seeing some of Kauai"s waterfalls and visiting locations such as Koloa, a 19th-century plantation town.
Sue Kanoho, executive director of the Kauai Visitors Bureau, claimed that the island represents "the Hawaii that everyone wants to experience".
She added: "Whether a person is a first-time visitor or has been here many times, exploring Kauai is a never-ending treasure hunt of sights and wonders that can be both fascinating and affordable."
