Family Skiing Holidays Cheaper This Season
Family skiing holidays "cheaper this season" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The cost of family skiing holidays has fallen this season as a result of factors such as "kids ski free" deals and discounts being offered by resorts in Europe and North America, according to Post Office Travel Money.
In its latest report on the family ski market, the organisation pointed out that sterling has held its 2010-11 value in most destinations this season, while equipment and living costs have dropped by between 4% and 20% compared to two years ago.
Switzerland is the exception, with the strong franc keeping prices up.
Comparing the cost of various items and services in resorts chosen for their family suitability, Post Office Travel Money found that Bansko in Bulgaria offers the best value for the 2011-12 winter season following a 17% fall in expenses compared to last year.
Slovenia"s Kranjska Gora was named the cheapest ski resort in the eurozone, while Ellmau in Austria offers the best prices for ski and boot hire.
Those planning a trip to North America could consider destinations such as Fernie in the Canadian Rockies and Winter Park in Colorado, where costs have fallen by 23% and 31% respectively.
Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Money, said: "This year"s report revealed welcome news for cash-conscious family skiers. We found good examples of price cuts in most of the resorts surveyed - especially in North America."
