Historical Festivals Returning To Champagne Region
Historical festivals returning to Champagne region by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Holidaymakers heading to France this year can revisit centuries gone by during a series of historical events taking place in the Champagne-Ardenne region.
The town of Sedan will come to life with music, medieval spectacle and rich costumes during a festival taking place on the weekend of 19 and 20 May.
Festivities are held to celebrate the feudal heritage of the Chateau de Sedan, the largest fortified castle in Europe.
Another highlight for visitors to look out for in this part of France is the Joan of Arc Festival, which will return to Reims on 2 and 3 June with a medieval market and a reenactment of the coronation procession of King Charles VII, featuring some 2,000 participants in period dress.
The village of Ay will also provide some memorable experiences this summer with a festival celebrating the reign of King Henry IV on 7 and 8 July.
There will be music, a costumed parade with horses, a regional produce market, champagne tastings with local winegrowers, a fireworks display and much more to enjoy over the course of the weekend.
