Icelandair To Offer Reykjavik Flights From Gatwick
Icelandair to offer Reykjavik flights from Gatwick by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Icelandair will introduce flights to Reykjavik from London Gatwick this autumn, supplementing the existing service to the airline"s home base from Heathrow.
Two weekly connections will be available from Gatwick from 18 October 2012 until 7 April next year.
Birkir Holm Gudnason, Icelandair"s chief executive officer, said the decision to launch a route from Gatwick reflects the lack of available space at Heathrow, which will continue to host two weekly flights to Reykjavik.
He added: "Gatwick will also give us the option of further growth in London and provide a link to our many partners with connecting flights to destinations throughout Europe and more remote destinations in Asia."
Hjorvar Saeberg Hognason, the airline"s general manager, said winter travel to Iceland has grown in popularity in recent years owing to attractions such as the Northern Lights and the Iceland Airwaves festival.
The timing of Icelandair"s new services from London Gatwick has been arranged to make it easier for travellers to enjoy weekend breaks in the country.
