Canaries and Balearics proving popular for Easter breaks by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Destinations such as Tenerife, Lanzarote, Palma de Mallorca and Ibiza look set to welcome high numbers of British visitors over the Easter weekend, with Abta revealing that the Canary and Balearic islands are the most popular destinations in Spain, the top country overall.
The travel association also said holidays in Cyprus and Tunisia have been selling well, owing to the high temperatures and guaranteed sunshine on offer in these countries.
Paris, Dublin, Amsterdam, Rome and New York are the top five choices for Brits taking city breaks over the long Easter weekend, while skiers and snowboarders will be heading to Geneva in high numbers for late-season trips.
Overall, approximately 1.5m people are set to head overseas between 6 and 9 April, with nearly 700,000 catching flights from the UK"s three busiest airports - London Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester.
Abta chief executive Mark Tanzer said: "Easter is the traditional curtain-raiser to the summer and I am delighted to see that hundreds of thousands of Brits are taking the opportunity to take a well-earned break."
