Italian opera festival returning for 90th outing by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Music lovers will be flocking to Italy this summer to experience the famous International Opera Festival as it celebrates its 90th edition.
The event will return to the Arena di Verona from 22 June to 2 September 2012, bringing a programme of six operas to the venue.
Giacomo Puccini"s Tosca and Turandot will both be performed this summer, along with Bizet"s Carmen, Verdi"s Aida, Don Giovanni by Mozart and Gounod"s five-act opera Romeo et Juliette.
As well as enjoying the performances, holidaymakers visiting Verona over the coming months will be able to take in the impressive sight of the Roman amphitheatre in which the shows are staged.
The venue in Piazza Bra has a history stretching back to the first century AD.
People with a passion for arts and culture can also check out some of the exhibitions taking place in Italy this year, such as the display of precious documents from the Vatican"s secret archive at the Capitoline Museum in Rome, which will continue until 9 September.
