Egyptian Holiday Resort To Host World Record Attempt
Egyptian holiday resort to host world record attempt by Cheap Flights Booker UK
El Gouna and nearby locations in Egypt could this month see a new world record set by local resident and business owner Maciej Zimowski.
Mr Zimowski will attempt to complete the longest ever kitesurf by covering a distance of 400km along the Red Sea coast.
The route will take him from Adabiya Port in the Suez Gulf, past El Gouna to the El Quasir Kalawy Imperial Hotel.
Dependent on weather conditions, the attempt is set to take place between 20 and 30 June.
The current record of 369.7km was set by Phillip McCoy Midler in May 2010.
Orascom Development (OD), a company operating various tourism and leisure projects in countries including Egypt, Morocco and Oman, welcomed the bid and wished Mr Zimowski the best of luck.
Vice president of corporate and destinations marketing Mayar Abdelaziz commented: "El Gouna [is] a haven for tourists looking to try out ... adventure watersports, such as kitesurfing and stand-up paddling, so the whole resort is especially excited to be a part of this world record attempt."
Travellers heading to popular Egyptian holiday destinations such as El Gouna and Sharm el Sheikh can also try activities like scuba diving and snorkelling.
