Tunisia Tourism Back On Track
Tunisia tourism "back on track" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Tunisia"s tourism industry is now back on track following the protests that resulted in the removal of longtime president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in January 2011, according to the promotional agency for the north African nation.
The Tunisian National Tourist Office (TNTO) released figures showing a steady increase in visitors over the past 12 months.
In May, nearly 32,000 Britons visited the country, 34% more than in the same month last year and 14% less than the record month of May 2010.
Visitor numbers for 2012 so far are up 57% on last year, with arrivals from Ireland showing a particularly strong increase of 83%.
Wahida Jaiet, the TNTO"s UK and Ireland director, said Britain has proved to be one of Tunisia"s "most resilient" tourism sources.
"The Irish market has also displayed great faith in the destination and I"m confident that the UK and Irish markets will continue to grow," she added.
Ms Jaiet also highlighted some of the attractions and amenities on offer to visitors, from luxury hotels to thalassotherapy centres.
