Festivals Boosting Welsh Tourism Industry

Festivals "boosting Welsh tourism industry" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Tourism in Wales is gaining significant benefits from some of the high-profile festivals and summer events taking place in the region, according to new figures.

Approximately 150 festivals are now held in the country every year, providing activities and experiences for people of all sorts of tastes and interests, reports WalesOnline.

Annual highlights include the Llandovery Sheep Festival, Pembrokeshire Fish Week, Cardiff Mardi Gras and Wrexham Beer Festival.

The country also hosts events celebrating quirky and unusual topics, ranging from town criers to Elvis Presley.

Commenting on the contribution that festivals are making to local tourism, a Welsh government spokesman noted that 90% of visitors to the nation came from the rest of the UK in 2011.

"The Wales tourism industry notched up record figures for domestic holidays last year, when visitors made 9.7m overnight trips to Wales and spent more than £1.7bn," he added.

Music fans can head to Carmarthenshire from 14 to 18 June this year to see acts like Dizzee Rascal, Friendly Fires, Nero and Wretch 32 playing at Beach Break Live.
